A Ghanaian woman, Mrs Linda Mensah has opened up her own poultry farm in Texas USA, she opened the poultry earlier this year and celebrated it saying it has been her dream ever since she came into America. Linda has been a passionate woman for agriculture and has always wanted to start run her own poultry business in Texas after completing her masters program.

Linda Mensah has been living in America for over 10 years and has been a loyal citizen of America, she was also running a big poultry farm in Ghana before she left Ghana to study her masters in America. She studied animal science technology in Ghana and while studying she opened up her own poultry farm as a support for her studies. She has been successful in her business and became one of the best egg suppliers and chicken supplier in Ghana. She has been a very hardworking lady supporting her siblings and herself in school after losing her dad and she gave her best to her studies and had the passion to start up her own poultry farm in Ghana.

During an interview she was asked what motivated her to start up a poultry farm, she said that her grandmother owned one of the biggest poultry farm in their village and it was a successful business until she had attack on her poultry farm that made all the chickens get sick beyond control and wiped out the entire poultry farm. She said it was a sad moment for her grandmother and she tried reviving her poultry farm but it was not easy for her and she got sick and passed away. That was when she said she was going to raise another big poultry farm in memory of her grandmother to bring back her legacy.

She was testifying that it was not an easy journey for her to open up the poultry farm in America as there has been a lot of challenges, she further said that doing her masters did not give her much time to establish the business as she needed to concentrate more on her studies. When she finally got done with her masters she started raising funds to start up the poultry farm. She said that getting a land for the business was not easy for her because getting a land in Texas to open a business takes a lot of capital so she had to start a fundraising campaign to start up the poultry farm.

Linda said that her friend from the masters school program suggested her to start the fundraising for the poultry farm when she saw that Linda was struggling to start up the business and saw her passion for the business so she decided to suggest a fundraising campaign for her. Linda said she thought it would make her feel like she’s begging for money from the public but her friend encouraged her more saying there’s no shame in fundraising. She had to accept the idea and start the fundraising campaign, few days into the fundraising she was able to raise $5,000 for the poultry farm.

Linda said a lot of people from Africa especially from Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal supported her massively in the fundraising, she also said that her friends from school and her friends from the school in America supported her massively. In two months she was able to raise the money for the land and it was paid for then she started buying the equipments she needed for her poultry farm.

She said more supports came from some African Americans who loved her idea and supported her by buying her some of the equipment she needed to start up her poultry farm. Some of the helping hands were people from different states in America who loved her passion and wanted her to start up the business and start selling so that they can patronise her. She said that a lot of the helping hands came from people she has not met before and she’s forever grateful for their love and support.

Linda said that her siblings from Ghana were also sending her some of the equipment she needed for the business, she said that she never expected it because she never knew that those equipments could sent down to the states. Some of her family members added more money for her to start up the business which she never expected too.

Today Linda is celebrating the successful opening of her poultry farm in Texas and is promising the public that she will definitely the best of eggs and chicken all across the states. She also said that if she makes good sales from the poultry farm she will consider opening more farms across the states to make her supply closer to people from other states.

Some of her supporters from Canada also told her to supply to Canada when she starts producing good eggs from the farm and she promised that she will definitely deliver both good eggs and chicken to them.
