A community in Imo state, Umuguma LGA has cried out to the government both state and federal government over the bad road constructions they have been experiencing for years without a rescue.

Some of the residents of Umuguma community said that they have been complaining to the state government for their intervention. They said that the roads has gotten so bad to the point that cars are always breaking down because of the bad road.

A resident of the community, Mr. Isaac Uwakwe said that they have been taking pictures of the road and sending to the state government for help but no rescue, he also said that they have invited some of the government officials to come see the poor road construction by themselves and they have seen it but nothing has been done. Another resident of the community, Mr Frederick Agu said that the road has been a big concern to the people because a lot of people apply the road everyday to work, school and business.

A female lawyer in from the community, Barrister Linda Uzoma said that they have complained to the state government several times demanding for their immediate help but nothing has been done about it. She said that the women union has gathered several times and matched to the government house asking for help from the state government to come for their rescue, she said that most of the times they went there they were only promised that the roads will be fixed to standard but still nothing has been done.

A teacher from the community, Gregory Njoku said that the bad roads in their community has caused a lot of harm and disaster, saying that a lot of cars get trapped in the road because of heavy mud during the rainy season and in the end those cars break down and it costs a lot to fix cars now. He said that even the school children in the community get delayed because of the bad road and sometimes they end up going back home because they spend hours on the road till about 11am which is not good for the students.

A restaurant owner from the community also complained that the entire community has been suffering from the bad road for years, he also said that they have been crying out to the state government to come to their rescue. He further complained how the bad road has slowed down his business progress over the years, not just him but also all other businesses operating in the community. He said a lot of their customers hardly come to patronise them because whenever they are coming their cars get damaged or trapped in the bad road.

Another business owner who has a big supermarket, Mr James Daniels said that businesses have been struggling because of the bad roads as customers hardly come out to patronise them. He said its either the customers cars get trapped in the bad road from so many deep potholes or their cars get damaged while driving through the bad road. He also said that a lot of business owners have cried out to the state government severally to come to their rescue and fix the roads but nothing has been done.

A professor of the federal University of technology, Mr Peter Amadi said that waking up every morning for work is always a struggle because while coming out they get delayed for about two to three hours because of the bad roads which makes him go to work late and thereby making him miss his classes. He further said that some lecturers and professors living in the community have been complaining to the state government to help them out and fix the roads to make life easier for the people.

Some students in the community also complained that they always get delayed on the road every morning while going to school because of the bad roads, they said that most of the times they get discouraged to go to school because when they are going to school their school uniforms get stained from cars struggling to drive out from the bad road and this makes them turn around and go home because they cannot continue going to school in stained school uniform.

A banker living in the community also told news press that the bad roads has been a big disaster to the community as everyone in the community struggles everyday to go about their daily activities because they either get trapped in the middle of the road or sometimes fall into the dirty water which discourages them to continue their movement. He further said that the people of the community has complained to the state government severally to come to their rescue but no response and now they are calling on the federal government to help them out and fix the roads.
